Echoes and Edifices: Monuments of Lebanon

September 17 @ 2:00 pm6:00 pm

Lebanon Through Time: A Digital Journey

Lebanon is one of the world’s oldest cultural crossroads, home to extraordinary monuments that span thousands of years—from ancient Phoenician cities to Roman temples and later civilizations that shaped the Mediterranean world. Despite this remarkable historical depth, Lebanon’s cultural heritage remains underrecognized and often absent from broader public awareness.

This pop-up presentation introduces a digital repository built on the Omeka platform that documents and maps key archaeological and cultural sites across Lebanon. The project combines interactive mapping with carefully curated metadata and, at its center, a collection of striking, high-quality photographs that capture both the scale and detail of these remarkable places.

Visitors are invited to explore an accessible, visually rich platform that highlights the beauty, complexity, and historical significance of Lebanon’s monuments. The project also gestures toward the challenges these sites face today, including neglect, environmental pressures, and the long-term effects of conflict.

Stop by to experience these stunning sites, discover their stories, and gain a deeper appreciation for a country whose cultural importance is far greater than its visibility in contemporary discourse.
