Community Sensor Lab: Low Cost, DIY, Air Quality Monitor for NYC
The Community Sensor Lab is a low cost air quality monitor and data network for NYC that seeks to equip youth and community members with research tools and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) skills to better advocate for local policy change on public health and environmental justice. The project mobilizes CUNY undergraduate and NYC high school students as public educators on the versatility of DIY (Do-It-Yourself) electronics and sensors. The program is built around making and using a low-cost environmental air quality sensor system and data network.
The Community Sensor Lab is presented by the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center (ASRC) and its team includes Kendra Krueger, Evelyn Roman, Ricardo Toledo-Crow, Mark Bellamy, Shawn Blackman, Astrit Boshnjaku, and Jerisson Ramirez.
